Hey, I’m Heidi. I’m glad you’re here because I’d rather that we travel together. I started writing this blog because I think there are important parts of family life that need to be talked about. I’m passionate about killing shame with vulnerability, so we need places to share our stories. I believe God gives us freedom from shame, heals our wounds, and makes us whole. And I’m invested in figuring out what that really looks like.
I work at Grace Church in Fayetteville, Georgia as the Director of Children’s Ministry. They are an amazing group of authentic people who are all trying to love God and love people. They are my tribe. We’re not perfect and I love that we don’t pretend to be. I work hard to support these people in their quest to be emotionally and spiritually healthy families.
I’ve been married to Brent for 18 years, and being in love with him is the best part of my beautiful life. I’m really passionate about our marriage, and helping other people have more fulfilling marriages. We have 4 kids, ages 13, 11, 9 and 7. They are really great kids and a ton of fun.
Being their mother is a wild ride that has shaken me to my core. I never dreamed that motherhood was so difficult or so rewarding.
I’m extroverted and my love language is quality time, so I’m not your classic writer-type. But when I’m typing I’m always pretending that we’re sitting down together over a cup of coffee. I really do hear you speak back to me. I hear your fears and your insecurities and your validations and your excitement, and I try to say the things to you that I would say if we were together in person.
And lastly, I think you’re amazing. I think you are beautiful and capable and whole. It is my genuine wish that you live in the fulness of true friendships and that you figure out your dreams and go after them. Because you’re amazing.
Heidi
